Women Seafarers

Vicki Gruber Harbourmaster of the Port of Hamilton and Oshawa (HOPA) on Lake Ontario. Hamilton is the largest Canadian Port on the Great Lakes.

Sheila Born into the marine industry, Sheila has seafaring in her blood. With degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business, Sheila is well positioned to carry on the business along with her brother when her indomitable father- now in his 80s - decides to retire.

Sarah is a Tugboat Captain working the busy Thunder Bay Harbour on Lake Superior. In the winter months she enjoys working as a Second Engineer aboard the same vessel.

Cindy is Chief Engineer on a petrochemical tanker.

Margarita Margarita works on petrochemical tankers and is often the sole woman aboard. She has her first mate's ticket however she prefers to get more experience before jumping into that stressful role which would have her in charge of the navigation crew , deckhands, and loading and discharge of red flagged cargo.

Denise - Lockmaster at the Canso Locks. The Canso Lock is unusual as it is operated by the Canadian Coast Guard.

Meghan is QUartermaster with the Canadian Coast Guard.
